Sarajevo nightlife: after the end of the conflicts of the 90s, the Bosnian capital has now been reborn and is capable of offering numerous tourist attractions and a vibrant nightlife.
Sarajevo nightlife
Located in the heart of the Balkans, Sarajevo is a small town, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina . Still little known to international tourism, Sarajevo stands out for its mixture of different cultural ethnicities and different religions: in fact, Christians, Muslims, Jews and Orthodox coexist here. This mix of cultures gives the city a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Sarajevo's old town is a place where time seems to have stopped. The cobbled streets and cute wooden shops make this area a fascinating historical spot. But the Bosnian capital is not only a city to visit for its great historical heritage, but also offers a young and very lively nightlife , offering tourists numerous options for night entertainment .

Although Sarajevo has a sizable Muslim population, Bosnians really like to have fun. Sarajevo's nightlife offers numerous night clubs, trendy bars, but also has cinemas, theaters, jazz clubs and clubs with live music. Also, Sarajevo's bar scene is fantastic, as it excites the locals to have fun and drink, and makes the city a great place for partygoers.
Bars are scattered throughout the center of Sarajevo and are all within walking distance. If you manage to stay on your feet after your bar hopping in Sarajevo , it's time to head to one of the city's many clubs and discos, where the party only ends in the early hours of the morning. The best evenings are those of the weekend, in addition to Thursday which is dedicated to university evenings.
Due to the predominance of the Muslim religion, alcohol cannot be found in all bars and restaurants. Alternatively, you can order a non-alcoholic beer or other drinks. Keep in mind that social life in Sarajevo largely revolves around coffee . Bosnia and Herzegovina has a long tradition of drinking coffee, a drink that came to this region with the Ottomans. Traditional Bosnian coffee is prepared by boiling finely ground coffee in a džezva (coffee pot). It is usually served in traditional Bosnian fildžani (handleless demitasses) instead of regular coffee cups.

Since tobacco goes hand in hand with coffee, people are used to smoking from long pipes and elaborate hookahs. Nightclubs where you can smoke the hookah are very popular in Sarajevo . After experiencing a hiatus of a few decades, the hookah is very popular again and you can smell the smells of this tasty tobacco in different parts of the city, especially in Baščaršija. Most of these places serve Bosnian coffee and Turkish delight, a traditional dessert served alongside.
Sarajevo is also the cultural capital of Bosnia and every year hosts numerous events, especially in summer, such as theater, jazz and festivals, such as the Sarajevo Winter Festival in February, the Nights of Bašcaršija in July, Sarajevo Film Festival which takes place in August, and finally the Mess-Festival in May and the Jazz Festival in November.
