Fuerteventura's climate broadly mirrors that of the other Canary Islands. It enjoys a climate of eternal spring: temperatures in Fuerteventura are very mild and tend to remain between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius year-round (the average low in December is 15°C at night). The only exception is the Calima, a hot wind that periodically blows from Africa, which can raise temperatures by several degrees. This hot wind often reduces visibility, as it brings with it dust and sand from the nearby Sahara Desert. The abnormal heat is felt especially in the island's interior and typically lasts a couple of days.

When to go to Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura is an ideal destination for beach tourism and surfing, and thanks to its breezy climate, never too hot or too cold, it can be visited year-round. The best time, however, is from May to mid-October. Due to its low rainfall, the island is ideal for water sports until early December, when the sea is still quite warm. In the winter months, Atlantic disturbances can bring some cloud cover and some rain, albeit moderate. These disturbances can lead to the formation of abnormal waves, which are highly appreciated by surfers (surfing championships are regularly held in El Cotillo).
The island is always pleasant, and is chosen by many Northern Europeans as a winter destination. Even in January, it's possible to sunbathe on the beach and, for the more courageous, even take a dip in the ocean.
